Saudi Arabia had the first film festval inside the country. compared to the ones in western countries, it is still incomplete with people drinnking coffee and juice instead of champagne, women going through seperated entrance and than isloated from the other visitors, and shwoing only privately filmed 3-56 minutes films but this is a great improvenmt compared to few years ago when all cinemas were closed down. inside the country, there are no movie theaters and people are forced to watch movies privately either by satilite tvs or by DVDs which all scenes like kisses have been cut out. there has been critisizm by several members of he government who wrote on news paper that movies can affet the culture negatively by showing alchohol, and men and women together, which is prohibited by law inside the country. because of the law and regulations, most movies were privately shot and ranging from 3 to 56 minutes in total.
